These big stouts were brewed specially for exporting. They needed to be extra strong and hopped to survive long travel to the colonies.

Colour– very dark brown to black

Aroma– coffee, espresso, dark chocolate

Flavour– coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, burnt and roasted flavours

Mouthfeel– mouth coating, full body

Finish– dry, alcohol warmth, burnt bitterness

ABV– 6.3-8.0%

Food Pairings– hearty rich food, steak, meat pies, oysters

Cheese Pairings– funky bleu, nutty cheeses, aged cheddar

Dessert Pairings– chocolate desserts, coffee desserts
